
Whole Wheat Momos
Whole wheat momos are a healthier and more nutritious version of the popular street food, momos. They are made using whole wheat flour instead of the usual all-purpose flour, making them a great option for those who are looking for a healthier and more wholesome meal.
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Water, as needed
For the Filling:
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil


Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
- Gradually add water, kneading until a soft, pliable dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add onions and sauté until softened.
- Add cabbage and carrots and cook until slightly softened.
- Add soy sauce, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Remove from heat and let the filling cool completely.
Step 3: Assemble the Momos
- Divide the dough into small balls.
- Roll out each ball into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.
- Pleat the edges of the dough to seal the filling.
Step 4: Steam the Momos
- Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil.
- Place the momos in the steamer basket, ensuring they don't touch.
- Cover the pot and steam for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through.
Step 5: Serve
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil.
