
Methi Thepla
Methi thepla is a popular Indian flatbread made with a flavorful blend of whole wheat flour and fresh fenugreek leaves. The addition of fenugreek leaves not only enhances the taste but also adds nutritional value. These flatbreads are easy to make and can be enjoyed with yogurt, pickle, or chutney.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup fresh fenugreek leaves, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Water, as needed


Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, salt, and oil.
- Add chopped fenugreek leaves and mix well.
- Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Roll and Cook the Theplas
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
- Roll out each ball into a thin, circular shape.
- Heat a tawa (griddle) over medium heat.
- Place the rolled-out thepla on the hot tawa.
- Cook until golden brown on both sides, flipping occasionally.
- Apply a little oil to the surface of the thepla while cooking for a crispier texture.
Step 3: Serve
Serve hot theplas with yogurt, pickle, or chutney.
